Tight budget tips for living well

I am the stay at home mother of two girls. My husband is an engineer. We relocated once we had our first child, in order to be closer to our parents. To make this happen, we had to take a pay cut. We decided it was worth it and jumped in with both feet. We've never regretted it, but in this economy every dollar counts. So, we have had to find ways to maintain our standard of living without breaking the proverbial bank.I would like to use this as a format to share some of those ideas. After all, who can't use a little help in the money saving area? Here are a few tips;
1) Clip coupons and cross reference with the advertisements, plan meals accordingly and shop on double coupon day! This may sound time consuming, but believe me, it is worth it!
2) Check out new releases from the library. I know it sounds crazy, but they get the movies every Tuesday , just like the video rental shops, but charge a fraction of the price, if anything at all. I think the going rate at my library is currently .50 cents a day, which is a fraction of the $4.00 for 3 days that you pay at the rental shops:)
3) Call your credit card companies and inform them of your financial situation.Most times they will work with you , to make it affordable.After all, who benefits if you don't pay at all?
More to come....
